Thermal Modification

Durable, versatile wood for both indoor and outdoor applications. Stillwood can be used for exterior siding, architectural cladding, decking, porches, walkways, and other projects where natural wood and lasting performance come together.

CLT Panels

Engineered wood panels designed for strength, stability, and versatility. Stillwood Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) can be used for walls, floors, roofs, and other structural applications, providing a durable wood solution for modern construction.

Housing

From individual components to complete homes, Stillwood provides wood solutions for panelized housing. Its versatility supports efficient, high-quality construction while helping keep the cost of housing lower than traditional construction.

Thermal Modification

Thermal modification is at the heart of what we do. Using heat, vacuum, and time, wood is transformed through a chemical-free process that enhances its natural performance. Over three days, temperatures gradually rise to nearly 400°F before a carefully controlled cooling and reconditioning phase inside a Maspell kiln. The result is a rich golden-brown hue that reflects the transformation occurring within the wood.

Beneath the surface, heat caramelizes the wood's natural sugars and starches, making it less attractive to termites and other wood-destroying insects. The process also alters the wood's cellular structure, reducing moisture absorption and increasing dimensional stability. The result is naturally durable, resilient wood without chemicals or additives.

Cross Laminated Timber

StillWood combines cross-lamination with thermal modification to create a strong building material. Cross-lamination involves stacking layers of lumber perpendicular to one another, forming a structural panel with exceptional strength and stability.

This method provides a versatile building panel designed to meet the specific requirements of individual projects. By tailoring the panel design and material properties to the intended application, we can create solutions that offer the performance and efficiency needed for a wide range of construction needs.
